Cultivating connections

For me, the main take-away of the Summit was
that there is really a need to come together, as various countries of the Americas,
and create a voice through the artists, so that these artists
can demonstrate a social commitment to truly joining together
to ultimately become one. I felt less isolated and alone
because I met other artists doing things that complemented some of my work, but also
met people in institutions who were inspired and stimulated and really
in support of us kind of pushing the envelope. The impact that the summit
will have in Trinidad and Tobago is the fact that
I think we are being represented. I think that’s the most important thing:
that a small island in the Caribbean, all the way by South America, by Venezuela –
10 miles off Venezuela – will have a voice!
