EAR WAX REMOVAL COMPILATION – DRY CHUNKS OF EAR WAX – EP 246

hi everybody my name is Rhys Barber I’m the audiologist here at audiology associates we upload new ear wax removal videos every Monday Wednesday and Friday at 9 p.m. UK time so please consider subscribing hi everybody this is Rhys father from audiology associates thank you for watching at you action mobile compilation this is the last video in our five day streak today so as you can see for this patient we’ve got some quite soft ear wax at the entrance to the ear canal here so I’m just gonna use the standard size on the tube to take this away you can see a little bit getting sucked inside the machine there and we’re gonna lift off the base of the ear canal here just unsticking this ear wax you can see a little bit of dry skin starting to lift up now that can be a little bit problematic when you’re trying to take the ear wax out of somebody’s here just because it can flick up in front of the suction and what you get then is you’re holding on to both the ear wax and the stand the skin itself so it’s a little bit more tricky so we try and pull that away if we can to start with which we’ve managed to do there you can see we’ve got a little bit of movement to the ear wax now so we’re lifting it from the ear canal we’ve got it moving so we’re trained to find a smooth flat surface to get a good grip on with the suction tube so at the moment you can see it’s quite angular there we always starting to turn it now so we’ve got a flatter side to work on rolling it down the ear canal basically of trying to hold onto it and guide it out at the same time just learning a little bit of suction pressure build on that top section of ear wax there to get a good grip starting to slide away yeah we are those looks like the front end of it so there’s probably a little bit more further in so we’re going to get a grip on this rear section now just trying to pull at the bottom end of it here now sometimes what you get with your ear canals is they get a little bit of a bend in there bit further in so the ear wax can form on a bend and when it does that it’s a little bit more difficult to get out sometimes so a softer patch of ear wax so you can see a little bits going Dean so I’m not able to get such a good grip on this one but it is moving very slowly there we I’ve found a harder section of that ear wax just pulling that out very slowly here there we go just trying to work it out of the ear canal then we have to now you’ve got it so far have to bend it around now you can see they’re a bit better the angle you have to kind of pull it out and then work it back around so there we are there’s that piece of ear wax there little tiny Fleck there at the entrance to the ear canal let’s get rid of that piece here we are there’s the eardrum there so you can see just over a centimeter and a half there of ear wax came out of that one year and 3/4 of an inch on that side thank you very much for everybody who has been commenting on the five days a week video I think what we’ll do the the it’s been kind of mixed the feedback so I think what we’ll do is we’ll go back to three days a week next week and I think we’ll use the five days a week for special occasions and things of that so we’ll be we’ll do a five day a week week every so often and so we’ll see how that goes so you can see got a long angular piece of ear wax here put some olive oil in just to help loosen this off now this is an awkward got a narrow twisted ear canal with a bend halfway down this ear wax has formed completely around that bend so as hard as we’re pulling on this front section here were unable to get a good enough grip to pull it out so because it’s a little bit hard we’re going to try with the forceps but unfortunately for this type of ear wax it’s very crumbly so as soon as you get a grip on it here it just crumbles and breaks away so not able to get a good enough grip with the suction tube so just tidying away some of those little pieces that broke away from the ear wax yeah we are just getting a grip in the centre there trying to lift this up and just maneuver it forwards you can see it’s quite loose so we can see there’s a lot of movement to the ear wax but it’s just because it’s formed on that bend it’s almost like a banana kind of boomerang shape to it so it’s kind of quite angular there so it’s hard to be pulling from the front down it’s not going to go so what we have to do is snap this ear wax in half so I’m going to press the crocodile I press the Jobson horn in here sorry just to take the front section away now because we removed that now what we have now is a better angle to work on that last piece so instead of trying to work at around a bend we can just now pull it forwards to get this back section out just need to get this little bit of dry skin away here first there we are Jess managed to get a little bit of a grip there this is going to come out we just need to very gently hold on to this with the suction and gather with a movement in here I’ve gotten a little bit deeper with a camera now you can see spit awkward you can see just how narrow the ear canal is because we’ve got very little room either side of the standard size on the tube here but the thin fine end would be no good to get this out it wouldn’t have enough suction grip so age yes starting to work this up and down just working along it’s hit a patch of olive oil now so it should slide that a little bit more across the ear canal so almost there there we go so that’s the second half of this you can see how long that was that’s why it wasn’t budging I will take a look behind that now and there is the eardrum there looking nice and healthy so you can see the length here was 2 centimeters on the average ear canals about two and a half an inch long there abouts so it’s three quarters of an inch it was going a fair way into the ear canal that one you very much watching our video today if you did enjoy the video then please like if you’d That's a great idea, the 3 days and 5 on special occasion. There was some large pieces of wax today, especially that last ear. Have a good weekend and I'll be watching you on Monday.

I think a lot of people were too shy to say what they really wanted-just takes a couple of people to comment "you need your family time" and you feel a heel if you say "yes 5 would be great !)-Bring them on – the more the merrier !

In my opinion, three days a week is more than enough. In fact, I think twice a week would be fine. I like the videos, but simply having more of what's basically the same procedure is not as interesting to me as fewer videos where each one details a more complicated, difficult or interesting case. As always, great job!

Yep. I'm with the majority and think the 3 days a week are good. The 5 days are a good idea but only on special occasions. Always enjoy your videos but you need a private life too.

Hiya!! I've been wondering, does it hurt your back and arms having to hold them up for ages with a steady hand for stubborn removals? Do you ever get the patient to lay down on a couch if you know it'll take ages?

You know we love your videos right, and it wasn't an insult to not choose 5 videos, cuz I've looked forward to 5 a clock everyday this week and sat patiently for a video. Here they come out at supper time. I would love more than anything to watch your videos 5 days a week, but I think a lot of people chose 3 videos a week because there were just being kind and want you to spend more time with your family instead of on us, which was a lot of selfless people and I was really surprised how kind your audiences is. I think you're amazing and a very great doctor so I hope we didn't insult you. But I also have to thank you for thinking of us and the five videos a week on special occasions I can't wait.

I went to click like and it read πŸ‘ 666….. So now reads πŸ‘ 667 haha

As for the 5 video plan, it's been good but it must obviously add to time needed to edit the video etc so I think either stick with the 3 days or potentially add another video over the weekend and see how that works for a spell but there are a number of options and plans that could be followed and probably just need thought over or tried to see how or if they work out well.

I would have loved 5 days. It’s just running a business as busy as yours, a daily filming can become a chore, and we don’t want to lose you, one of the few really viable audiologists on YouTube. For that reason I encouraged 3 days. I’m all for the compromise of five days a week on special occasions!!! Maybe we’ll get to see more of those special weeks!

I will not complain about sizing down to 3 videos a week. But I would like to ask once again if you would make your videos full screen instead of a circle in the middle so we can see what you are doing mote clearly? I know I would appreciate it very much. Thank you!

I've enjoyed the 5 a week videos! I can see where it might be hard to keep up with the editing schedule so 3 days is fine with a 5 a week as a treat (oh my, I just referred to wax and skin as a treat! How odd πŸ˜„!)!

You are by far the best I have ever watched. You care for each person you work on. I’ve seen so many others that make the person they are working on bleed a large amount. You however never make anyone’s ears bleed. Your truly amazing. Thank you for sharing your videos with us however many days a week you feel you would like to share with us.

Rhys, I thoroughly enjoyed having a great video every evening to watch. However, looking outside the box, I think it put a tremendous amount of pressure on you. Working all day then editing and narrating each video to be posted. Your work is outstanding and it was an eventful week. So relax this weekend

Rhys, I think you've made the right call about how many videos to upload per week. You've essentially stayed with three videos a week, while allowing yourself the option of occasionally doing five a week if you really feel like it, but signalling that that's not to be taken as a new ongoing commitment from yourself.

I think y’all should do a 5 day streak once a year or every six months, unless it’s something YOU hated doing. I can’t imagine how much work it takes. But at least if you do it in at certain tones, you have time to prepare maybe? It just seems like it would take a lot of your time.

All of us diehard waxaholics could watch multiple videos of yours every day BUT you have a lovely wife and family and friends who not only need you but you need them. It would be devastating if you suddenly became ill and couldn't put any videos out. I rather you spend the time with your family and friends and save the five videos in a week as a VERY rare treat. We love you and want you around for a long time. Cheers from Canada! P

I personally watch your videos to go to sleep. Your voice is so soothing and these videos are so satisfying to me. I will say the same as almost everyone else, your community loves your videos a lot but we are humans and we understand life is hard and editing is hard and everything that comes with life, work and videos. (Relatively) so as much as we love a 5 day week of videos it is not a necessary thing for every week. You need some time for yourself and your family. You shouldn't feel like you are being forced to do work stuff every second. Please do what you can handle we will love you and your videos no matter what! Much love from Illinois!❀️

Seeing clips of you working on your patients. Willing patients could also be shown. Willing staff, I think it feels like I am watching a friend.
