Indo Israel Avocado Vlog #7: 4 updates on my Avocado farming pilot project in Bhopal

Hello everyone, thank you for tuning in to episode 7 of my video blog its been a while since I last updated a video on youtube, there has been a lot of updates, (correcting my grammar) there have been a lot of updates, from my side, Firstly, I have been getting some recognition on some websites freshplaza.com freshfruitportal.com israel21c.org and israelagri.com if you type my name on google (Harshit Godha) and add avocado or use appropriate search terms, those articles should come up then Second update is there has been some damage and theft at my greenhouse, and it happened on 4th of September, 2019 4th of last month as it turned out, the damage that they caused to my green house was more expensive than the value of items they stole from my green house, they damaged the plastic at the front of my greenhouse they damaged the plastic at the front of my greenhouse at the entrance, the door of the green house they tore it down with a knife they tore it down with a knife they tore it down with a knife and its annoying really, and they stole some iron rods and clamps from inside but its not the iron theft that has been bothering me, now I have to place an extra order for the plastic sheet of the green house now I have to place an extra order for the plastic sheet of the green house and get it repaired its annoying (apart from the cost involved, its a hassle to place the order again and get it transported to Bhopal) but there is risk involved in every line of work thirdly, I have placed a new order of avocado plants in Israel for my next consignment, this time, it is of 1750 avocado plants as opposed to 750 avocado plants of my last consignment that didn’t go through because I did not get the permits in time as opposed to 750 avocado plants of my last consignment that didn’t go through because I did not get the permits in time as opposed to 750 avocado plants of my last consignment that didn’t go through because I did not get the permits in time as opposed to 750 avocado plants of my last consignment that didn’t go through because I did not get the permits in time this order of 1750 Israeli avocado plants these are actually for two pilot projects that I am running in Bhopal one is for my own site, and another one is at a different site, and am doing that one with a friend, and another one is at a different site, and am doing that one with a friend, so, I am expecting my next order by, May(2020) next year and this time, I know the import procedure and documentation, so I think, that should not be a problem this time so I think, that should not be a problem this time and lastly, I tried some traditional farming, because I had already prepared the land and it was ready, so I asked my land care taker to plant lady finger, gilki, barbatti and udhat dal and personally, I don’t eat these vegetables (I like meat 😉 , and i have seen these for the first time on the field, thess vegetables are for old people I guess, my mom makes em for my father and grand mother right (trying to find my chain of thoughts, I don’t rehearse or plan much for these video blogs) so, now after monsoon, finally my produce is ready (for picking and selling) and i will show you the average daily yield (coming up in a few seconds) but I don’t think this is a sustainable (business model) I have personally been to the wholesale market twice (karond mandi here in Bhopal) to sell and understand the procedure, and I do not think I can earn a lot (doing this form of traditional farming) the only option is to try exotic fruits and vegetables, because it is a game of demand and supply anyway lets take you to the field How much did you pick today? thats bhindi/lady finger this is Gilki as you can see, this is the damage, for now I have covered this up, but I need to get it repaired, as you have just seen, the men have picked gilki and bhindi earlier, i was thinking, that this little experiment would, bear little expenses of my site but, i do not think if that would be possible or not my intuition says, I am not going to earn much from traditional way of farming so if you don’t have a background in traditional farming, do not try this, I don’t think you would be able to earn much, anyway, thats it for today’s video I will keep you posted from time to time about the progress of my avocado farming pilot project in Bhopal, India You can subscribe, to get notified. www.indoisraelavocado.com Harshit Godha Bhopal
