It’s really important to have the grower
connection as well as the industry, so we have the dry bean commission that we work
very closely with. A lot of the people that are in the industry, so we can
actually find out what the major issues are and then hopefully be able to come
up with solutions. It’s been awesome to have the new Saginaw Valley Research and
Extension Center, just next to Richville and between Richville and Frankenmuth.
We have a lot of the dry bean and sugar beet acres that are in this general area
and it really gives us the opportunity to work on the same soil types, have the
same problems, as well as, be able to showcase some of our research to growers
in the area.
